Katrina Parker is a seasoned public relations/strategic communications expert with more than 20 years of experience that spans agency, city government, non-profit, corporate, and retail sectors.
She currently serves as a PR/media communications consultant for clients including Rudd Resources, TDR Brands International, MasterChef Junior Jasmine Stewart, and the Westside Justice Center. She previously worked with the Danielle Ashley Group where her strategic communications expertise led to a significant increase in media coverage for the Walgreens-sponsored First Ladies Health Initiative's (FLHI) Health Day events in three markets. She also coordinated the successful execution and pre-event media coverage of FLHI luncheons - featuring actress Holly Robinson Peete and notable pastors' wives - in Chicago and LA. She recently expanded her love for personal styling and frugal retail therapy by working part-time at Macy's.
Prior to consulting, Katrina served as account director with Flowers Communications Group (FCG) - a leading multicultural, integrated marketing communications agency - where she successfully led media/PR outreach resonating with African-American consumers/influencers for Cricket Wireless; multicultural community engagement and media relations for ComEd’s multi-year reputation management initiative; multicultural counsel and support to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Customer Relations and Support team; and efforts to enhance FCG’s local and national visibility.
Prior to rejoining FCG, she was Corporate Media Relations director for global business insurer CNA where she moved the organization from non-existent media activity to proactive, positive placement of CNA news and increased/enhanced media relationships.
Her career began at Burrell Public Relations as an assistant account executive working on programs for McDonald’s and Quaker Oats. She continued at the Chicago Park District as a communications specialist; then served as associate director of PR for KaBOOM!
She serves as board advisor for NAAIA Chicago and board secretary of her church; and is a member of the Black Public Relations Society.
